High Contrast Portrait

For this breadth piece, we used cardboard, masking tape and ink. We were tasked to find a black and white image and attempt to recreate with these materials. My reference image is underneath the main piece. We used the masking tape along with a X-ACTO knife in order to create the highlights and the ink to create the shades. I tried to create a gradient with the ink, but that didn't turn out so well. This piece started out really nice but then I screwed it up in the inking process, so it's not one of my favorites. I took an X-ACTO knife to the background to take off the top layer of cardboard and reveal its support structure to give the portrait some "pop". |
